After its three-day training at the Alpha Aviation, the NLEX Road Warriors are about to hold camp at the St. Paul American School in Clark City, Pampanga beginning Monday.
Road Warriors general manager and head coach Yeng Guiao made the confirmation late Sunday.
“We’ll travel again Monday to Clark, but this time, we’re going to hold a training camp at the St. Paul American School until the 30th,” said Guiao.
In the first three days of scrimmages, the delegation followed a circuit set up where participants will have to drive back and forth from home to venue and vice versa. This time, the Road Warriors will stay in one place where they will be billeted in a hotel a lot closer to the practice facilities.
“We’re staying at the Supia Resort in Clark,” added Guiao.
According to Guiao, the three-day closed circuit training was a good start in getting the players’ conditioning, but the training camp will help the squad in the long run in establishing better chemistry, especially with new players joining them this season.
Rookies Calvin Oftana and David Murrell are training with the team along with another new recruit, veteran journeyman Don Trollano.
“Any opportunity you can get at this time will be a big help. We’ve learned our lessons from last year’s bubble tournament where we didn’t have much time to prepare. We don’t want to repeat the same mistakes we made,” added Guiao.
Once the team wraps up the training on May 30, the Road Warriors will wait for the Inter-Agency Task Force’s recommendation to Malacañang on the quarantine status of the National Capital Region Plus bubble. The NCR Plus bubble is still under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions until May 30.
